I use M4 countersink pan heads with M4 rivnuts and washers, I brought a cheap rivnut gun from a local screw shop, and it does the odd job well. think it cost about £13 and I buy the rivenuts when i need some the size i want look inthe yellow pages for fastner suppliers.

Well, today didnt go well! was on my own so was quite hard to move the rods from under the car at the same time as spraying penetrating lubricant. undid the centre console bolts and also the hand brake locking pin type thing but bouldnt manouevre the console over the hand brake! freeezing cold now and covered in crap .. and still no diff lock! :(

just push away from yourself when sat in drivers seat you can be in low high or N, just done mine again & i have taken the top off 6 months ago oiled it all & I use it all the time, this time I just went under & sprayed with WD but when they stick under lack of use, they are very stuck. have fun.

You have to lift the habdbrake up to the vertical position to get the console off. You did undo the 5th screw holding the console? Just under the handbrake ratchet.
When I put my console back I drilled new holes in the metal surround and self tapped it into place so that it can be easily removed next time.

thanks for all the advice guys, im going to try again on tuesday my next day off! will try get some one to help as i find it really hard underneath to see which linkage rod to spray and i can can only get to the front part from there, oh.. and il look for the 5th console screw this time too! lol

take the consol out to access the lever box and free the rod that goes from side to side, i had to use a big hammer and plenty of grunt to free mine but well worth it.
