Diesel tuning, taken further...

Wammers you seem to be missing my point again....

On other forums dedicated to other cars members would recount tales of how for example conrods would need uprated for forged items, and how the head would need flowed, uprated gaskets etc if going the extra mile. Not "you are a clueless dreamer who obviously knows less than me for even considering such an idea"! This just suggests that you feel intimidated by the thought of someone wanting to consider possibilities beyond what you have tried. And consider is the key element!
As I have recounted so many times I wanted to hear about what is required, NOT that I am automatically about to attempt to delve into such a project.

You may know a lot about Range Rovers, but you sure don't have a great understanding of the English language. Feel free to apologise for being rude, but other than that I'm not interested in anything else you have to say.

For christ sake, i know a lot about diesels as well, having served my time on them. IT'S NOT WORTH DOING. Did you hear that? There are things you can do, but they have all been covered on here to the point of bordom. Search and ye shall find. Ring Diesel Bob up and ask him. I am sure he will be happy to relieve you of lots of gold bars if you want him to. But being the honest bloke that he is he will i am sure say don't bother. Just as i am saying. I,m not interested in a diatribe about tuning possibiliteis of a outdated engine with a glint in my eye like you seem have. Apologise to you, dream on.

There was a guy on the Pajero forum that spent a load of time and money trying to get more power out of the 2.5 4d56 engine, it was a very interesting thread, bigger turbo, intercooler the works, don't know if it ever was right but I just thought why did he not go and get a v6, same here why not just go for a v8 and use all the extra cash saved to run it.

My point exactly, you missed the point of this thread completely and decided to slate me instead.

There is no point to this thread, you asked questions without searching for the subject, which is very well documented on here, and they got the answers to suit. When you get your P38 and it breaks down i will be happy to help you. But i am buggered if i am going to tell you how to make sure it breaks down. Go on a diesel tuning forum this isn't one.

Hi to you too.

Wammers I suppose you would have told the BMW diesel racers not to bother either. Or that these guys were deluded in drifting a truck turbo boosted W123?

errr....

These aren't Diesel P38's with the M51 engine (which doesn't respond well to tuning beyond a larger intercooler, a remap and a larger turbo)

This is what is being told to you....you asked what can be done to the M51 beyond a remap....thwe answer is - not a lot else....that is what 95% of the answers you have had, yet you still constantly keep asking the same thing....when The Wammer, Spud, Datatek, myself, Dave, Zen et al have all said, there is no point on the RR M51....

Get a V8 on gas for the same mpg, or a straight petrol and tune the nuts out of that....but beyond what you have already been told on the M51would have little effect and is a waste, as it will not be much better than it already is (which isn't great admittedly) but it does what it was designed to do - pull a RR through the mud, not race ****s in euroboxes down the M3.

That is the answer....plain and simple. and that is what we have all been telling you from the start....

well hi guys! what an intro to the forum..lol

i am a newbie here and was just doing the search thing about tuning the p38!

dont panic! i aint gonna ask, all the answers seem to be here in one form or another.

i am going to look at a 98 dse auto tomorrow to replace my long owned and extremly reliable and capable ssangyong korando.... no rude comments please, i will shoot you down :D

this was the first thread i came accross and although very lively with ade being a spoilt child i am well informed that the auto box aint up to much.

the reason i am lookng for a bit more poke from the m51 and not buying a petrol biggy is because i want to run on biofuel. common rail engines will run ok but i prefere simple technology. i have used it in many vehicles over the years and wanted to try something different.

so, just a small tweakage with a remap and larger intercooler and that is that.

i see a comment about the pump being good for only 100k, is it an expensive repair or a totally new one when it goes?

looks like fun and good info on here.

cheers chaps for cheering up a wet and windy sunday.
