Hey,

Hoping to find some clue to this problem. I have own my Disco for about 6 months now. First the water pump went, then the fuel pump, then the starter motor.

Yesterday I had the oil cooler replaced and some how they had activated the fuel cut of switch. So I reset this and all was fine. Started it this morning, and heard this loud knocking sound coming from the passenger side of the engine bay.

I could feel the vibration mainly through the air box and PAS reservoir. Thought nothing much of it, as I needed to get work, I set off and thought I would look at it later.

Drove about 5 miles and when I reach 60mph it seemed to cut out for a split second and start back up. The same happened again. When I came up to a roundabout, it cut out and the battery light came on!

I thought great the alternator has had it. Opened the bonnet and noticed that both the battery terminals where really loose. So when the RAC man came he tighten them up and tried to jump start the disco.

It only just started after many attempts, and would not rev past 100rpm. It would stay at 100rpm, no matter if you pressed the accelerator or not. Then after about 20 seconds it just dies.

Any help much appreciated, to a frustrated and confused man!

Thanks
