Dickie seats

May be a dumb question... But why do so many people get rid of the dickie seats out of the back of Disco 1s?

Mine has had them removed but the mounting brackets are still there, so I will probably throw a set in when I'm all done welding her up, as tbh I find so many situations where having 7 seats is a bonus... Plus, they fold up out of the way nicely when you don't need 'em... Can't see any major advantage in not having them there for the sake of it..

Unless, of course, I'm missing something here??
 
i never used mine, but as you say they dont take up anymore room, so i left them in :D
The worst one has to be the old shoguns, they take over half the boot when folded up lol
 
Must admit, took mine out, together with all the mounting brackets etc, as they were never used, and in my opinion, a little bit dangerous just with a lap belt facing sideways....but guess it must be sorta safe or they wouldn't have fitted them - just my opinion.

But you will be surprised how much more boot space you get, as we go camping a lot, and its helped quite a bit, as the boot ain't that big for the size of the disco - well esp if you are used the living room size of the D3....

Yep tidy job there mate, I would protect them though a big mesh cover the same colour and hole size as the rear door sub would give it that nice factory look.

That was my initial thought - two years ago. They are actually very tough and have stayed intact after numerous tip trips, etc.

I never had a boot sub - It's a Jap spec and came with double pockets. Even they are long gone, replaced with black chequer plate,

All that muddy water would play havoc with the sound quality :D

They were cheap to do. IIRC £50 fot the subs, off-cuts of MDF and a tenner for speaker cloth. See the photo album to see how they were made.
