I used to play around with motorbikes and became a bit of a guru on the Yamaha Vmax, so I'm no stranger to grease and spanners, but I am a total novice with Land Rovers.

I've always liked the look of Series 3's and have just bought a galvanised rolling chassis with a petrol engine.

I plan to build a Series 3 pick up as close to original as I can.

My first question Landy Gurus is: what's the best manual to buy?

If anyone would be kind enough to point out pitfalls to avoid that would be great.

Manual? This place is the best manual! I would go for the original LR SIII manual as its better than the Haynes.

Welcome by the way.

So truck cab you say? What about a full rag top? I have a SIIa lightweight and the full rag is awesome. Would love a 2a 109 with full rag, I think they look ultra cool.

Thanks for the warm welcome Griffdowg. The chassis is an 88. I'm thinking truck cab rather than a rag top coz both me and the wife feel the cold too much. I do plan to have the canvas tent type cover on the back end. Sorry don't know the correct term for it - yet!

Oxides, thanks for the link to the manual downloads. I've saved the webpage in my favorites.
