defender rear door handle

I've been having problems with rear door handle recently and the other day a genuine brand new in box one came up on ebay, I bid and won it. It turned up a couple of hours ago and went out to fit it. I opened the box and held it up against the existing one and couldn't believe my eyes it's the opposite way round. I thought must be for a left hand drive rear door opening the other way, I phone NENE OVERLAND to ask, seeing as they deal in left handers, I'm really confused now, they say left handers have the same way rear door.
Anyone know what this is, at least the seller on ebay is giving me refund but I would like to know what it's from. The date on the box is 1999.

It looks as though there are LH and RH versions:

LH:

Are these for handed rear doors or side doors on some model of 110. Or is this the left hand door of a series Landy.
