Had td5 90 vague steering for a while could not find the issue till today.
The drop arm was loose on the box even though the lock tab was in its proper position.
Got the half inch snap on basher gun on it that took it up two full threads, took all the play out of it now a far better drive (thank god) not scary like it was.
Anybody had this come loose before.

Yeah it happens.

Must be tightened to 176nm. Driven, checked, re tourqed at least twice.

Then knock the washer in place again.

I did mine up with my buzz gun, then torqued if. Wasnt tight enough, drove around for a couple days and had come a touch loose.

That's great thanks for the reply, think my torque wrench goes upto 110nm.
Was thinking of upgrading to a bigger torque wrench maybe nows the time.

If it’s driven for a while with it slack I think the arm wears and you will keep tightening it until the arm touches the bottom of the box. Mine did anyway

Just a note on the torque wrench - the aldi (and perhaps the Lidl one) go up to 210nm. If you only want it for occasional use it may be worth considering. I think the price is around £20 (may be slightly more), but I got mine for £15. I actually have two as I decided to get one to keep in my car as it was as cheap as a wheel brace.
