Hello all
My 2004 td5 has started to smoke badly, long trail of blue smoke .using a lot of oil since this happened, egr valve lever seems to be operating ok and turbo is spinning though theres play in the fan spindle, is that normal? Pipes going to intercooler seem to be ok and are clear.
Anyone any ideas as to poss cause, im thinking turbo but don't want to buy one unless im more sure.
Thanks in advance

Thanks Mike, think I'll need to change it, ive loss of power as well so most likely to be turbo

Agree .. but also try to work out how it might have happened ... have you run low on oil, used the wrong oil, have you been through deep water, crudded air filter, no air filter etc. No point just putting a new turbo on without solving the cause of failure .. or is it just old and worn? ;)

Thanks paul and very true. I only changed the oil two weeks ago, used 5-30 as given to me by the dealer, all filters changed too, theres play in centre spindle of turbo so maybe its just on its way out, just hope turbo is the prob
