hello, further to finding a good price for 2nd service on my fl2.

i phoned all dealers in a 20 mile radius (8) got a price from each
£307 -£471
i took this list to the dealer i bought the car from, my second fl from them. (Hillendale who were charging £471)
I spoke with the service guy and asked him if hillendale
would lower there price ?
(not to the lowest .. just somewhere in the middle)
they said they would check and let me know later that day.

It is now 1 week later and they still haven't responded.
Not even to have the good manners to say NO I'M NOT INTERESTED.

I guess i will not use this dealer again.

Thank You Hillendale bye bye.

Hi , it beats me where some garages get their prices from ! in the past i have had to service my cars myself , and since getting my FL 1 i have learned to service it , get a haynes manual and do it yourself , some jobs need a garage i admit , and to be honest i have yet to find one i can trust , if you can do it yourself , you then know its done rit ! :)

unless you need a vatt reciept for the guarantee then do it you self and probably better when my wife had her freelander she brough a 3 year service on the first service they just changed the oil and filter I let it go as they had supposed to have seviced it before she had it on the second service before she took it in I marked everything and a again just oil and filter so I complained they said OK a mistake had been made and would do it so i said i wanty all the parts the garage was a none landrover they tried to fob me of with a air filter that would not fit the freelander 1800 also a set of plugs was in the box that would not fit so I demanded money back they soon changed there minds and did it properly every time so in future now i do her car and mine it is a bit of a strugle because have back problems but it is worth it i even put a drop of oil on the hinges and even check tyre presures like you are supposed to do

hiya...i do agree and i only wish...
2 problems i know of ..
1. haynes haven't got a workshop book for this model
2. we (a mate & me) tried replacing a clutch on a 2cv and it blew up and died
so i doubt my skills .
and i'm not sure how long i'll keep this car .. so L/R stamps in the service book would be a good thing to have..

Is there not any independant land rover garages in your area,i would be using one of them if i was you, these "stealers" will charge you £110 an hour labour+vat for having your car standing around the back doing nowt!and you paying for it.I thought that i had found a decent dealer where i bought mine from but after marking the parts that should have been changed and were not during the service and being charged £130+vat for a £8.00 track rod end i decided that i had had enough and now use a local lad.A mate of mine has had his disco in another branch of these stealers-this has been going on for about 9 weeks and they are still no further forward in repairing his car,yet charging him everytime they have a look at it.Seems if its something they can't fix-going by their workshop manual-they can't fix it,believe land rover is now going to have a look at it now?.His car has been a nightmare since he got it,more time in garage than him driving it.One problem after another-too many to list--honestly.

i've priced up 4 independants so far...
2 in leeds .. 1 in hudderfield .. and 1 more in newcastle (bloody miles away) the leeds and huddersfiels one are cheaper .. but not by much.
Newcastle one cheaper still....but far away..

and i won't get the L/R service stamps

There is an independant one in Sunderland-think his name is Les Potts, word is he will do a good job,i use Cheviot 4x4 here if need be,but as you say a little far.Thought if garage was vat registered it would not affect your warranty,i could be incorrect, maybe somebody will put me right on that---Dave

hello,
I've still got 1 years warentee left on this car and should the worst happen and i need to hassle land rover for something serious like a new engine .. (OR the doors falling off .. as the 'REAL' land rover guys tell me) a lack of dealer stamps will not do me too well i recon.

if i keep the car longer than the warentee time.... i'll definatley look for cheaper.
