Well got the good news from the garage (sort of)prop shaft ok (phew)cv joint os Goose'd. Now the sting in the tail? If you have Hill Descent fitted your Cv joints are considerably more expensive to purchase.Ah well the joy's of having a Land Rover Freelander.Got quoted £266 supply and fit gonna have both sides done at the same time as the ns has a slight noise also.

cant see why hill descent only uses abs reluctor ring and sensor ,sounds like bollocks

I thought the same but then rang a couple of other garages one was a Land Rover Stealers And they both asked the same question. It appears that there is a difference between the 2 cv joints

Well googled the 2 parts and going of the supply prices whether there is a difference or not i am happy to have them fitted at £266 and not having to do the job myself.Sometimes it gets a bit tedious after having to repair Forklifts and trucks all day at work.I also believe it sounds logical as there would be a lot of extra strain put on the drive when HDC is activated. Also it is my mates garage and i know he would not rip me off.

im not telling you what you should or shouldnt do ,just they dont make different parts for hill descent, someones telling porkies or has been mislead themselves

So me thinks it's Land rover that is putting this Myth out as like i said i phoned them and the first question he asked was does it have the HDC option.Anyway thanks for the replies but gonna go ahead and get these "HDC CV JOINTS" fitted.Regards Alan.

certainly someone who doesnt know what they are talking about, check the numbers ,i think they will be the same as i posted

A cv joint without the rings can be fitted as the rings can be bought on there own for as little as a couple of quid

£266 for a cv joint fitted is a bit much

early freelanders had the option of ABS which came with HDC.

From 01MY on (KV6/Td4/revised K1.8 intro point) then ABS was standard.

Microcat doesn't list different CV joints or drive shafts for ABS/non ABS varaiants they are the same
