hi all,

Part way through bobtailing a disco and have a question about fueling

I want to make a new fuel tank but re-u se the original in tank pump and sender, does anyone know the size and thread for the screw ring that holds the pump in the tank so i can get a steel one make to fab into new tank?

or would it be easier to just get an external efi pump?

thanks in advance

its a 3.9, has got a lpg conversion on it so i'd like to keep the efi if possible and the original fuel pump, just plug the wiring back in and off i go

Hi..im also in the same situation with the fuel tank as i also want to use the internal fuel pump .I have found a company called whitbread offroad they are selling an 8 gallon tank that you screw your efi pump in to... the cost is £169 .If im honest i would like to spend less and as mine is not lpg id also like at least a 12 gallon tank have you had any more luck with this issue...cheers dan

Closest solution i've found so far is to get hold of a 3.9 range rover pump and sender. the plate that holds all the components is flat and is screwed down rather than the disco plastic push in type with screw ring thingy. Using the range rover type you should then be able to fabricate your own box and bolt the range rover sender / pump in. A metal box with a hole in the top from your local fabricator should be cheap enough.

Saying that i havn't build it yet so this is mostly theory

Thanks for the info if you can update any info as and when you can that would be a great help and like wise i will do the same..cheers

No worries, i found the pump and sender on ebay for 25 quid delivered. when it turns up i will know for sure

My bobtailed Truck Cab Disco uses an S3 tank across behind the front two seats.Half in and half out of the cab.

Ignore that - it might just be an S3 filler.

at the moment i'm using the original plastic tank, but wanted a smaller one to create a bit of boot space. 8 gallon should be enough as its to mainly use on short runs and off road and i have lpg on it

lpg tank is behind the passenger seat...no smoking

Ive been thinking 8 gallons would prob be fine as i dont really do long journeys and the ease of just bolting the tank down and fitting the efi pump is a plus point. If i can get some overtime at work next week i think ill bite the bullit and order one..

well i've got hold of a 3.9 RR classic pump and it looks like it will do the job, only problem is they dont have the sender built in like the later ones so thats on my shopping list now but it does look like the eariler pump with the flat mounting flat will just bolt down nicely
