Hope it's not a sign of Rad Weld or the like.

If it coppery and sparkly then rad weld. Was it in the hoses as well?

Datatek - Me too!!

Aero - Not sparkly, just a dull light brown, no sign in the hoses I have to say, and the coolant was a nice blue colour!!

So fingers crossed some muppet hasn't used Radweld in it, but I 'll keep my eyes on things and update as necessary.

PS: Are my posts too long and boring!! - noticed I do tend to post quite lengthy replies - or is it a good thing as it lets others know the full details???

Dull light brown residue is pretty normal in cooling systems. Unless your radiator and heater matrix are substantially clogged up to begin with Rad weld will do no harm at all.
