Cruise Control problems

I am having problems with the Cruise Control on my FL1 V6 Auto. Switch illuminates, but motorway on instrument panel does not. Checked fuses and vacuum pipe as best I can. Anybody had similar issues and if so appreciatre your guidance. LR Dist wants an arm and a leg to just plug it in. Ne to LR but very pleased with it (famous last words)

I have same problem all pipes are ok as is the pump????

How old is your Freelander, and is it manual or auto. Newer facelifted ones are on can-bus and have an ECU under the drivers seat. Did the cruise control work before, and have you checked fused & relay feeding the system.
