Hi, I have a Disco 4 (09.2010) SDV6 Commercial and want to use it regularly up and down a straight 32 degree slope (1:1.6 or 65% gradient). Anyone know the maximum angle the vehicle will remain stable? It will be turned on the flat at the top.

depends on

Moisture content of slope
surface covering of slope
tyres fitted to vehicle.
weight distribution inside vehicle
Wind speed
Wind direction.
Speed of vehicle
Depth of tread on tyres
Air pressure inside tyres.

That'll do for now report back on all the above variable and we'll arrive at a definite prognosis.

Probably :D

I think slide slop is 45 degrees I could be wrong ! That no roof rack or stuff sliding in boot !! Try the disco3 forum !! It has the d4 section. !

Hope that helps a bit !

Thanks Redhand, that's a lot of ifs, but relevant, so let's assume wet concrete (ridged by tamping, not smooth), Grabber 245 tyres on 20" with 2mm min tread and inflated to suit the task (whatever that is), two 100 kg bodies up front and even distribution of no more than 200 kg tied down in rear, no more than a gentle breeze up the slope, slow speed (no rush up and descent control down). Obviously, can't have the wrong sort of leaves on the surface!
Look forward to the possible definitive prognosis!

if it's a concrete ramp and it's straight up or down disco will **** it. If side slopes should be ok as long as not slippery. problems usually arise after landy has slid sideways and then found grip. inertia takes over and landy ends up on it's side or roof

Point I was trying to make is that there are sooo many variables that can affect the stabilty of a vehicle..

i would think yer issue is more tyre grip rather than stability due to the angle of the slope.... takes a lot to go end over end. and 32 degrees aint nowhere near it
