Creaking rear - Fixed

Thought this may be worth sharing.
Always had a bit of a creak from the rear of my Freelander 1 3 door. Not subframe mounts or anything to do with hard top or suspension. It turned out to be side to side movement between the taildoor latch and striker. Adjusting the striker outwards to take off some seal force and a liberal application of grease has cured it and rid the car of its only major annoyance. An unusual fix as creaking tailgates are often fixed by adjusting striker to increase the seal forces.

many years ago in fact around 1968 I had a mini van converted to estate with a cooper s engine in but the back doors drove me mad (I still am) and in the end I got rid of it I could not stand it any more I tried everything. so congrats for getting rid of that terrible noise.
