Been out in new freelander sport 3 door with a passenger in rear seat for first time seems to be a creek from rear near side suspension by the looks of the rear seats they have never been used its a 2005 with just 12K on the clock and has been used to pull a caravan for holidays then spent the rest of its year garaged any body got any ideas?

do a search on here. Freelanders suffer from cracks on the rear sub frame and sometimes the bolts holding the subframe can come loose.

Good luck with your new purchase

Thanks for the good luck wish?
cracked sub frame now that sounds expensive? checked again this morn the noise is not there if you rock the suspension on that corner? is that pointing again to the sub?

first of all make sure your bolts on the sub frame are tight which are 190 nm or 140 lbs if not tight they will eventually rip the nuts out of the body which i did but did weld it back up

Effin facs seem to paint an expensive canvas, anyhow had the sub checked by a landi specialist (up on the ramps the works) he was unable to find any fault with the sub frame and checked studs for tightness. the only answer he gave was perhaps with the lack of use the rear seat fasteners were creating the noise. one more theory was the rear removable top any thoughts. (near side rear is where the noise appears to be)

i have known bushes+springs to creak on other vehicles. quick spay of white grease and all cured. Prob wont be for this though but are you sure the bushes arnt worn and not touching metal to metal?

Get in it. Open boot door. Get someone to jump up and down in boot. Using ones ear. Locate creaking noise. Probably just plastic.

Yep thats what I would do. Only way to find this sort of noise. Process of elimination.
