Gent,
as the weather has turned warm and I can take the gaylander off the road for a while, its time to give it a bit of a service. I need to get me a BMW crankcase breather filter, are these filters only obtainable from BMW dealers. Can anyone advise me where to get one from.

Yes - only from a BMW dealer.
BMW call it an Oil Separator
Part Nr: B11.12.7.799.367
Cost: £23.35 inc. VAT

Hi there

You just need the filter kit, which will be £21.02 inc Vat with free postage, keep in stock,

Hi im new to the site, ive just bought one off ebay and it has turned up today so will fit at weekend, another filter to look out for is the turbo boost control filter which literally dangles down the back of the block connected to a pipe on one end these are both recomended to be changed anually (apparantly) and can cause big problems if not changed, my crankcase filter definately needs changing as ive got a bit of oil pressure coming up my dipstick :eek:

I suspect that the number ending 224 is for the whole crankcase unit which is around £60, which is why the reply says you only need the actual filter /separator part, which is the number ending 367 I quoted.

The price has indeed gone up since last year, but it's worth a try if there is not a BMW dealer near you.

Shami,

It's the original style cotton wadding crankcase filter that needs changing every year.

The newer updated plastic BMW cyclone vortex part needs only a rinse out in white spirit every 60K miles or so - it cannot clog and give you the back pressure that is so damaging to the turbo and also blows oil out the dip-stick tube.

The BMW part is approx double the price of the original - but lasts forever.

hi you mean the turbo vent filtter which is really a petrol filter

Any chance of us getting hold of the old ones:) Remember the story years ago that Rolls always stated that their cars never broke down, sounds like BMW are also starting to get above themselves.
