hi i have just got my self a freelander gs 1800 year 2001 i have filled the coolant 2 times in the last week both times it was dry it looks like the fans arent comming on but the temp is sitting at normal took it for a50 mile run fans never came on but the temp stayed the same any info would be good thanks

Do a search for coolant loss, tons of really good solutions. DO NOT use rad weld or anything like that - will feck your injun (this is the common wisdom here anyway.)

Could be a leaky hose or joint, or intake manifold gasket, or head gasket, cracked header tank, leaky tank cap or a few other things. Diagnosing is a bugger but you'll get there. If it's driving fine at least it doesn't sound like HGF.

Will.

Thanks for the info it looks like it might be the thermostat
All pipes are roasting apart from the one at the bottom of the radiator some one said that if thermostat is not working it will not open a valve the let the water pump round the radiator is that true might give in and book it in to the garage ....
