Hi got range rover vogue on a 2002 plate, when it get to normal running temperature the check coolant comes on but the water level is fine any ideas?
Thanks

The L322 Coolant warning does two things....measures the coolant level and also the mixture....if the mixture is wrong, it will throw a coolant level warning even if the level is correct.

That being said, it could be a duff sensor mounted under the expansion tank!

As Datatek says above - the Float the stick is mounted to is a hydrometer (or whatever they are called) and this sits at a certain level depending on SG of the mixture....

There was a discussion about this and how it works a few months back...a forum search should reveal all!

Wow....as far as I can remember checking once a year and changing fluid as required has always worked for me.

Fab technology though. Hope its a BMW bit!

Apologies for adding to this thread but thought it better than doing a new one.

As @Datatek & @Saint.V8 explained the float measures SG, I am guessing if it is a mixture problem the tank could be full but the float still low. Just asking cos my coolant level warning came on on Friday so I topped it up and then today the warning came on again. The tank is full and the float is riding high so I think I must have a faulty sensor. Also warning has gone since I removed and replaced the filler cap.
