Hi RR funs, I have a small question.I was in the mountains and I got a message to check my coolant levels in my engine.Since I was in the middle of nowhere I just added some water.is that alright or should have added a specific liquid??? Thanks and enjoy your rides....:D

coolant is a mixture of water and coolant so it will be ok to top it up with just water

Errrrr no, not a good idea! Too much water and not enough additive leads to overheating in hot weather, freezing if cold enough!

Recommended mix is 50/50 coolant(antifreeze) and water, though in Cyprus with warmer climate better mix would be 1/3 coolant, 2/3 water.

No probs; antifreeze helps stop freezing in cold weather, also helps cooling properties in warmer climates........such as Cyprus!

What range rover is it?

i think you mean range rover supercharged?

read your handbook about coolant and take it to landrover ASAP if problem persists

Yes is the RR supercharged.after putting water it is ok.I ve got no new message.the thing is that I filled with water only and very little coolant fluid is left. From the answer of the rsts friends this is a problem.

It's an ok temporary fix, i.e. got rid of msg, car running. However, needs coolant mix right for cooling/antifreeze, more importantly, why so low?????? Need to check for leaks, air blocks, or even head

I would take to a dealer ASAP - an eventual waterloss can lead to overheating and failure. a garagr can make a pressuretest of the coolantsystem - It's better to get it checked now - if something is wrong and the car is still under warranty - you'll have fixed for free!
