I do hope that this is the write place (and the mods don't get upset). But I'm the reluctant owner of a 1956 Series One Landrover, and completely clueless of what it is worth It's got to go because I'm buying a house and need a deposit, it was gifted to me by a family friend. Obviously a photo paints a thousand words, and I completely understand condition dictates everything; photos to follow.

It's definately ex-mod but it either is (historically) or been made to replicated a fighting patrol vehicle from the 1950s. It technically can't be SAS due to what the regiment was doing at the time but I think from the brigade markings on it (3 Armd Bde) that it was for the "Special Recon Regiment" who were rolled to Scout out ahead of NATO forces in the event that the 3rd Shock Army crossed the border. I can't find the history of it. But here are the specs;

It's a 1956 Landie with the Rover 90 Engine, with 12 months MOT. Painted in MOD green with all the unit. markings, and troop handles as per MOD specs, all the extra Gerry cans etc.
Runs pretty well with plenty of new parts.
It's been stripped down so there are no doors, or frame or canvas (however full doors are included)
The knackered Dunlops it came have been replaced with brand new MOD stocks.
The upholstery is very tired.
The body is in excellent nick.
Body mods include, welded tail-gate in place, front mounted spare tire (two spares in total).
FFR
FFR 2 x HF Larkspur radio sets with all the ancils.
Lamp and SWR tow cable
1 x BROWNING 1919 .30 mounted in the passenger seat (old spec deact with all paperwork).
1 xBROWNING 1919 .30 mounted on the tail gate (old spec deact with all paperwork).
1950s Super Bazooka (old spec deact with all paperwork).
1950s Cam Net.
Loads more that I can't remember!

I'll get a photo next time I visit it! But has anyone got a clue where I should try to sell this vehicle, anything I can do to increase it's sellability and more importantly what the hell is it worth (the guns alone must be worth about £1000-2000). Any ideas please help!

Hi,

It's looking like that this isn't actually a military modified Land Rover, but something even more special. A custom build Series I (one of 3 made) by the Land Rover Factory for the film "Digby; the biggest dog in the world".
