Hi Guys!

I am now the proud owner of a leaf sprung series 1 racer :) and was just wondering if any of you on here have any experience in leaf sprung comping. and if so would you have any images of your old cars? having a range rover i am a complete novice to the world of leafers, any hints or tips to make the car more competitive would be a big help :)

Cheers

Callum

Fella at work, Martin, whos in Midland Rover Owners club has a series 1 as his 'trials' vehicle, if you have any specific questions I can pass them on!

More over is is an 80 86 88 or 107?

80 86 good luck! 88 or 107 erm maybe a laugh but you'd be better cutting a rangy down to 92 inch and pipe and panel it

No specific questions yet, as i havent picked it up yet, but there will probably be some soon :)

its an 88" car with a 2 litre MPI engine out of a rover 820, mated to an auto box, fitted with parabolic springs but no power steering, its going to be a tricky little bugger to drive but a hell of a lot of fun :)

is it from down this way i remember somone racing just that setup not long back at mountwood lots of fun bun not near the top of the finishers i don't think

index.cgi

this is it, if the picture works, if not, i'll try a different link

it was built by a guy called Dave Banner in 2006 with a diesel engine in it and raced until 2009 when he changed the engine to the Mpi but never raced it

The one I saw was down this was twas a rover car mid engined racer was fun to watch must have been another vehicle

Ah Not the same motor however the cage looks to be no longer legal with the ALRC because its raked back too far I think new regs say 60 Degrees. Caused many people to be re doing their front cages this year to comply with the regs.

oh no, that might not be good, i'll have to ask the scruitineer. yeah, its log booked cage is tagged upto ALRC spec I think. got the 2011 green book yesterday, i'll have to research

I know there was alot of doo dar about the front hoop must be at the same angle as a LR windscreen are you competing in the nationals?

aah, i'll look into it, and i will be in the 2012 ones, its my clubs national so i'll be setting out the bike trial and competing in the comp and RTV with my motors :)

Cool,

I'm getting my 90 back to Std for the nationals RTV only My 80 inch needs too much work for this years comp. It needs the logbook and cage front supports updating so Mr Flanders can sign it off. My bro will be double driving my 90. We fitted an old truck cab and I'll be ripping the winch and tubular bumper off next week. Got a couple of std bumpers and will swap my springs for much softer ones. Tyres I will remove my 900's I may have to use my old SAT's from the 80 inch bit too skint to buy new ones. Loads of work but getting there slowly! Can't wait need to get some beer in and the BBQ. Drunken bike trial for the adults could be laugh but probably banned under H&S!

Must my application off tomorrow morning first thing. I think on the nationals forum one of them are replacing their front hoops. might be worth a shout.
