hiya.

im starting to have really bad problems with starting the FL from cold.

once it has started first time its fine from there on.

was wondering would it be the glow plugs etc, the glow plug light on the dashboard doesnt light up anymore.

could it be an ecu problem etc, im abit lost with these cars and was wondering if anyone may be able to help me please what and how to test things.

as always really appreciate your help.

plus since i changed the gearbox oil it has cured the problems which im really pleased about and thanks for the advising me to get this done, thanks guys

hi gary,

first thought would be a faulty injector leaking back. I had this with mine, steadily got worse until it refused to fire at all. Spraying easy start into the inlet manifold started it everytime.

definitive way to prove this is to have a leak off test carried out on the injectors.

I used Dynes at Crayford (01322 621430), who diagnosed the fault, then sent the injectors to Kent Diesel Centre (01622 687882) for reconditioning.

However, Dakar (01322 614044) are closer to you, and may be able to deal with this quicker given their proximity to Swanley.

As for the glow plug light, wouldn't worry too much. The TD4 needs very little pre-heat, even in the depths of winter only saw the lamp for a maximum of 2 seconds, haven't seen it at all since about February / March

Good Luck

hiya,

thanks so much as always for the advice.

ive tried to search how to do the leak back test.

oh great optimus would you be so kind to tell me how to do it please.

plus looking forward to the transformer 3 coming out youve been revived once and obviously a man of great wisdom.

i dont know if i mentioned but since getting the oil changed in the auto box i now cannot believe how smooth it is .

i imagine its quite hard is it to do a leak back test as i would be very nerviuos doing it myself but i imagine with good instructions and what to be carefull of should be fine

thanks again
