Hi I have a 04 freelander td4 se station wagon ,and find the clutch bites at the bottom of the travel near the floor is this right or is clutch going ,Its done 91 kmls , as im used to disco clutch ,can you advise please ,cheers.:)

Mine is an 04 and feels pretty low too.....Not sure if it is normal but has been like it since I got it......just thought I would let you know you're not on your own!!!!!

The stick feels a bit "all over the place" compared to what I am used to as well.

My td4 has had low biting point since purchased over 3 years ago. Changed fluid and bled etc with no change. Despite towing, off road, snow and lettin the missus drive it ;-), the clutch survives! I was considering having clutch done just after I bought it and now glad I never.

Mine is quite low too even after clutch and slave change.........probably really nees a new master cylinder........but until it's broke I'm not replacing it.

my 52 freelander td4 is the same very low bite point was like this when I bought it, changes gear ok. just took some getting used to I suppose and was thinking new clutch but after reading these posts im not so worried about it

Hi all
I am new on here as I have only had my td4 sport for about three months. Mine had a low biting point and was very stiff to push down so I greased the top of the pedal and linkage on to the master cylinder then cut the carpet and sound proofing away.
The pedal goes down to the floor and disengages much better with a lot lighter clutch pedal thanks to the grease on the linkage.
Fitted a ronbox after reading all your posts and it makes it a great car to pull are caravan

Hmmm need to try greasing the pedal linkage...sometimes the simplest things. Wont change biting point but my clutch pedal always been stiff.

Hi All,Well thank you for your replies ,I will try some grease but it does tire my left knee a bit with gear changing ,apart from that it is quite a nice vehicle, cheers for now, dave.

I have recently had replaced the clutch, dual mass fly wheel, slave and master cylinder all with oem parts and the clutch pedal is still low. When I asked the garage which is a LR specialist, they told me that all freelanders are low.
So it just means I have to get use to it now.

It seems to be the way they are.

I took the pedal off, cut the pin that the master cylinder pushrod connects to off and re-welded it a few mm further forwards - 10 minutes work and the clutch now bites in the middle of the pedals travel.
