Does the gear stick go into any other gears, ie. When the engines off? Just thinking one of the gear selector rods could have been forgotten about when refitting the box.

theyd would have had to remove box to fit slave (concentric) if clutch isnt clearing properly it would effect 1st and reverse too, that would be mechanics responsibility as would and damage to box during removal and refit, whats exact symptoms

its not clutch related but linkage or maybe box ,but box id think if it was has had a selector mechanism come adrift inside or similar when removing /refitting box ,its possible but highly unlikely box has unrelated issue thats just shown up

it wouldnt necessarily be a hard fix but would require box pulling apart ,and id want to know why good box before it was removed isnt now

would deffo agree with that, as someone who worked in the trade for many years I definitely don't believe in coincidences- "fault has just shown up" is definitely garage speak for we've broke something but want you to pay for it!!

Totally agree with this.... No such thing as coincidence....

They have broke somfink.

think you might have jumped into removing the box to quickly,
master cylinders fail over a period of time and sometimes bleeding can get the cluthc working ok again for a short time ,

what are you going to do now ?

It's definitely the slave cylinder not the master , and he had bled it a couple of times before work started on it first time round as you said solved problem for a little while. , box is now sitting in his workshop waiting to be striped when he's got time
