Iam trying to find information on the possibilities of claiming a car.

Does anyone have any information or know if this is possible?

I know of a landrover that is sitting at a garage, the guy left it there to get repaired two years ago and never came back for it. Maybe the repair cost was too high and couldnt afford it or simply got a new car and couldnt be bothered with it.

Either way it has sat there for 2 years and the garage will be happy for it to be out of there storage.

Is it possible to claim the registration details from DVLA?

Any advice will be appreciated.

seeing as you just want it for spares why not just make the garage a sensible offer - and get them to send a notification to the owner (by recorded mail) that it's being sold as such
 
Will the garage not have to go through the same process?? Iam asuming the garage will have the right to sell it on by now?

am surprised they haven't raped it for parts by now, 2 years rental of the space it's occupied plus the original bill is going to be a few quid - a few recorded letters is all that's needed to warn the owner

as it's only for parts - can't see the harm in that
 
No idea where that is. But if there is one there aswell maybe this could be a nice business clearing unwated cars out of garages??:cool:
 
My understanding is that it went in for some repairs and he never came back, the bill is apparently quite substanial. Iam guessing he didnt feel like paying and left it...

me mate claimed a porche 944! Werent particyularly difficult but think there was a waiting period once the dvla trys to make contact.Give it a go!
 
Apply by phone on 0300 790 6802

You can apply by phone if:

* you’re shown as the registered keeper on the registration certificate
* your name, address and vehicle details haven’t changed
* you have a debit or credit card to pay the £25 fee - the cost of a duplicate registration certificate

Apply by post

You’ll need to:

* complete a V62 ‘Application for a Vehicle Registration Certificate (V5C)’ available for download, or from any Post Office® branch, or from a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) local office
* enclose the £25 fee
* send your completed application to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1DD

If your name, address or both have changed, you can notify DVLA on the V62 form at the same time.

I have the V62 available if you want it in .pdf form.

Well i sold a Landy a while ago and sent away the dockys, i recently got a letter through saying that someone had requested the dockys so i asume they never got to the DVLA...anyway, in the letter it said something like, if i didnt reply within a certin period the dockys would be sent to the person who requested it anyway.

I didnt really read it in any detail, i just wrote to them and said it was all correct...thats what turned the light bulb on when i heard about this motor sitting in the garage....

how would any of that apply in this case as the OP isn't the registered keeper ?

shirly then people could send away for the documents to any vehicle they fancied, in the hope that the owner will have moved and therefore won't be in a position to say no to any request that DLVA might send out ?

or am i missing a point here ?

Exellent, Have you got any idea what the waiting period is? Iam guessig dvla will this send a notification letter to the previous owner?

No that is it.My mates proker was parked in an airport car park, owner ****ed off abroad n didnt come back.Simples as.

Nah you got it right,

I had that thought aswell when i read that post. i picked it up to mean that if you apply, DVLA will attempt to contact them and if they dont reply the ownership will be passed over...

I could be wrong aswell..??

As you say, it does sound a little flawed..

Yeah. All they'll do is send a letter notifying the last registered keeper that they have updated their records, saying that they are no longer known as the keeper.
