Can anyone tell me the location of the fuse for the cigar lighter on an 06 3 door TD4 and what size it should be.

Hi Mr M,

It's in the fuse-box in the glove compartment below the steering wheel.

Fuse Nr 9 - 15 amp

Singvogel.

Thanks for that.
When I had a look I couldn't make head nor tale of the graphics on the key.
The icon for the lighter socket looks as though it's been drawn by a 5 year old. I can make it out now you've told me.
It's just that I have a TruckAir compressor and it blows 15amp fuses, it needs a 20

then use the socket in the back it is 25 amp rated as it is a power socket

Sorry Teddy - but if you mean the one that used to be fitted at the back of the centre arm-rest cubby -box beside the rear ash-tray - that was deleted in 2004 along with the ash-tray - anti-smoking policy eh!

The OP has a 2006 model I think.

The wiring for the socket is still available underneath the storage box - very easy to fit a socket.

Fitting a higher rated fuse could cause other problems. What happens if the wiring to the socket and the socket itself aren't capable of carrying the higher current?

oops sorry about that I did not know they had taken them out if you need as much current as I do at times then get some heavy duty wire capable of 40 amp and a heavy duty socket and put one in your self do not forget inline fuses as protection

Yeah - fit an extra socket - £3 on eBay.
I have a OE landRover socket in the back load area for the fridge and an eBay one where the rear ash-tray used to be for the cool-box.
