Hey guys this is my first post, so go easy on me....
I am looking to get my first car any time now, as i am 16 and looking to do one up for when i pass my test at 17. i was wondering if anybody had any cheap land rovers that they insured as a first car and if they know what the cheapest (sensible) land rover to insure would be. i am also very interested in defenders and series 2 & 3's so if you could perhaps tell me a way to get these at a cheap insurance price that would be awesome!
thanks very much

thanks do you know any cheap insurers?

Yup, Series 3 is one to go for. Have you tried GoCompare or Confused? Lancaster, Adrian Flux, could be others to call. There's a good article in July's LRM(which is out now) about a 19 year old and his Series 2a. He works for Adrian Flux mind.....

Im 17 and have been looking for a landrover for a while, i've just purchased a series 2. I found that through Aviva i could insure a series 2, 3 and pre 1988 90's for between £770 and £850. Which is far cheaper than any "normal car".

Im with NFU and 21 been had licence for 2 years and insuring a Discovery 2 TD5 fully comp and pay less than my car for it there not a bad insurer but there maybe better ones out there.

You could look for a Series 2 aswell as you would be tax exempt and join a local Landy club as you can get a discount through your insurer

Good luck though

is that van insurance or normal car insurance?

Have a look for last months (or it might have been this months) land rover mag, 's got an article in it about a youngster and insuring a series land rover

its what we did with my mrs after she passed her test last year. We bought he an old series 3. £400 to insure it. As opposed to £1500 for some banged up ****ty fiesta.

Got a 1986 hardtop 90 2.5 for me first wagon at 17. Insurance was 2800 on my own policy tird party fire theft. Year later with 1 year no claims upgraded to a 1993 200tdi hardtop 90. Fully comp is 900 quid. You just need to wait out and get the 1 year no claims fella!
P.s the cheapest company was " insure2drive" think there still the cheapest for young drivers
Am now on admiral.
