changing the front trailing arm bushes on a p38

hi can anybody give me some advice how to change the front trailing arm bushes on me p38 do i have to support the axcel if i am doing one at a time has the vechical got to be jacked up from the chasis as well plz need some advice lads plz

ive had alook for it but cant find it yet dont need it iam going to tackle it tomorrow weather permiting

ive been told if i replace them with poly bushes i want need that tool to put them in with .but thats wat ive been told and the poly bushes will last just as long but we will see

NEVER used any fancy tools to fit poly bushes in defender or discovery trailing arms??

nah you dont need special tool for polybushes some say they dont wear as well on the p38 but I have had polybushes on for 40k and no signs of wear

Thats the only thing that has lasted fer 40k on p38

I did mine for Mot 2 or 3 months ago

they can be a pig to remove, we cut the bolts with a disc cutter and had to use the oxy kit to burn the old bushes out even using a press

The new poly ones fitted easy, bought split ones from famous four, fit in with soap and hardly needed the press to put them in

Good luck, make sure you do front and back

top tip take the arms off motor makes it a lot easier

I did not know Rangies had trailing arms. Do we mean radius arms here?

today we have done the radis arm bushes and changed the drop links and new antiroll bar bushes big thanks to nath 5436 for all is help with it cheers mate .....appreciated thanks again but it was a mission
