Hi all

Im wanting to service my dads petrol 2002 Subaru forester turbo. I've only serviced diesels in the past and changing the fuel filter has just been a case of remove old filter fit new one and turn over until it pulls the fuel through, will this be the same on a petrol or will it cause an air lock or other problems? Apologies this is not about a landy but given the wealth of knowledge on here im sure someone will be able to help me out;)

Cheers Oli

Fit new filter turn ignition on and let fuel pump prime (you should get approx a 1 second burst from the fuel pump), turn off, turn , turn on and let it prime again, then off again. After priming the third time all should be good.

In theory it shouldn't need priming but I like to make sure the filter fills up a bit.

There is no injection pump on a petrol so the fuel pump runs constantly, you wont need to keep turning the ignition but just crank it till it starts, it will bleed out on its own...
