evening all,

I've just changed the temp sensor on my 1.8 freelander and whilst doing it i lost the spring clip that holds the wiring plug to the sensor. has anyone else had this problem and if so do you know anywhere i can get a replacement or any ingenius idea of how to stop the plug falling off whilst driving?

cheers,

just dont lose the spring that holds the defender together. lol. do you have anyidea where the spring went? i bought an extendable magnet for this sort of thing and the invariable screws that drop down the doors when taking them out. if your work areas not too big just get on your knees with a magnet and hopefully it should pick it up.

it fell into the bottom of the engine and didn't come out onto the floor. whilst i was trying to think of a way of getting a magnet to the thing my wife took the car out! it's gone forever now! do you think it will be ok to run without the clip?

sods law. it was prob stuck in the floor cover. its for an elec plug so in my mind i would stick a bit of duck tape around both conectors if theres room and it might be an idea just to take the scuff plate off and see if its wedged itself into a corner or nook. ive had screws and springs caught in my old nissans scuff plate a week after losing them. if all else fails have a look at raves c.d for the spring and print a pic of it and take it to a small motor shop. i cant see halfords having one but the smaller ones seem to keep the little things or have the knowlege to supply something that will do the same job. just get a couple if they have them just in case. lol.

If it fell into the plastic undertray there's a good chance it's still there.
Give the tray a thump with your fist and you'll here any loose bits. very little by way of stones gravel etc gets in there so if you hear anything - investigate.
There's also a fair chance it will fall out onto the ground if you thump it a couple of times.
