Finally got the engine mated to the gearbox and transfer box yesterday.

All went pretty well considering. Just one question though. When I engage diff lock nothing changes in the behaviour of the diff output flanges. I can still rotate them and the other one turns in the other direction - I would have expected it to lock against the input shaft once the diff lock was engaged.

Am I expecting too much and it will probably be fine in use or do I have a problem - would rather strip the box off at this stage than at a later point in the build!

its not going over enough to lock then ,there may be too much play in linkage or swicth for diff lock light may be wound into far ,difflock is operated by compressing a spring sp lever can move but locking collar not move

Thanks for the reply James. Just to clarify - are you saying that the switch might be stopping engagement or that because it's in too far the light might not be coming on. Obviously at my current stage the switch isn't operating.

What should be the effect once the diff lock is engaged? Is it that I shouldn't be able to move the prop flanges (because I'm trying to turn the gearbox)?

when you turn one prop and other goes in reverse directio its because diff isnt locked ,with locked diff both go the same way when ones turned ,switch can jam selector ,try turning 13mm nut where linkage enters box clockwise if it locks theres not enough movement in linkage or if not try switch

Hi James,

you were right - the switch was stopping it engaging. What's the best way to adjust the switch? Measure the resistance until the switch operates as your winding it in, then lock it down?

Thanks for the help so far,

Jon
