Hi guys I did a search and there is a topic on this but it don't help D'oh ! Basically fitting a carling hazard switch and got it in and connected and it works fine but now I have no directional indicators, to give all the info I can I also fitted another switch to move the heater rear window up to a mud pod this works, in fitting these I have knocked out all dashboard lighting and my fuel and temp gauge but I can't see that I've unplugged any thing or that any fuses are blow it's on a 1989 defender 90
If any one can shed any light I would b very grateful

I had to disconnect the illuminitation wires on my carling switch to get the lights working again, seems it was back feeding somehow and all the indicators glowed when the lights went on! Could try removing these and seeing if it helps.

Don't think I unplugged any thing I'll check again as for illumination on clocks tried with and with out carling switches still won't work I'm only changing as I'm a big fella (fat b******) and my knee stops me operating switch I'm moving all 3 switches up top so I can use them

The hazard switch wiring on these is fairly complicated for a hazard circuit.

I've done an in depth post of exactly how the circuits run and how the switch manipulates them.

Basically there is a flasher, under normal circumstances the switch switches the circuit via the flasher then to the directional indicator stalk and out to the required circuit: left or right.

When you switch it to hazard mode it takes the live feed, via the flasher and simply connects it to the left and right circuits via the switch.

If your indicators have stopped working then I am almost certain that your switch is not correctly routing the circuits via the stalk.

There's a recent post on the D-90 Source forum, with a diagram -
