I did something stupid on Saturday and it's cost me £15. Short of time, I took P38 through the car wash... Don't usually do this as a) they don't do a very good job and b) there are better ways to waste a fiver (beer :)).

No aerial etc so what could go wrong?

Got home to discover the ******** thing had extracted 3 of the 4 wheel centres!:mad::mad: That's the last time I use a cash wash. Had to go to work in another direction Saturday night and up to Malvern Sunday so chances of them being there and intact are minimal - thus just ordered some more off eBay...

Who else has lost these in a car wash I wonder?

Never use a car wash on a Range Rover....regardless of stated max sizes etc...it is a recipe for disaster and when you try to claim from the company they will tell you it isn't suitable for larger cars....I wouldn't dare put anything bigger than Focus in a car wash!

Yea, I've always avoided automated car washes since a mate went through one and had a few problems. The leaves that had built up under the scuttle panel caused a blockage and water to start coming in through the vents inside!

Yes, it was a lazy deed for which I probably escaped lightly... Much bigger stuff goes through this one however and the vehicle in front was one of the VW transporter thingies - I wonder if his wheels are complete... :D

There are dirty bits everywhere that the rollers missed too and of course I've added a few thousand bug splats from 400 miles of motorway yesterday. Might as well go and get the bucket out I suppose!

There is a photo in the gallery here of a P38 in a carwash. And the lovely stoved in roof where the motors that powered it didn't rise as quickly as the wind screen.

Never had an issue .... I use it as pre wash and finish off at home...

Lost my virginity in a car wash....think yourself lucky !

nothing wrong with a automatic car wash most time its driver error or loose components, your more likely to suffer damage with un-qualified hand car washes using unsuitable chemicals on your car.if in doubt wash it the the good old fashioned way at home

I never use auto washes. The brushes retain all the bits of grit blown into them and around here there's loads of sand. I use jet wash if in a hurry or wash it at home. Also I've never trusted an appliance where every one I have ever seen has a disclaimer ref damage
