hello , i am new to the site. i have just brought a 2001y plate freelander 2.0 td4. every thing was going brillantly :) ,until one morning on the wat to work the engine mangement light cane on and it cut out at 70 mph ( in the fast lane of the motorway) . I got it towed back to were i had brought it from. They spent a day or so looking at it, but could not fine any fault. the computer showed no faults. so they took it to land rover, but they could also find no faults. Land rover have told me to keep driving it as normal ( engine mangement light still on) and if it does it again that they will have it in and have another look. Does anyone out there , have any idea on what the problem may be.
mark.
:(

Hi. . . had the same problem with my td4 auto [well sounds the same] turned out to be the fuel pump in the fuel tank ,it packed up all-together in the end,but had grief for bout two weeks, got help from this site ,so check out ,help me ,by ming, must add that i changed the fuel filter and pump at the front under the wheel arch first,so check out my story. . .might save you a packet, hope ya get sorted, and like others give a feed back, cheers. Cheers ming for the advice. My TD4 has been run fine since i got it back from the garage.:) but the last couple of morning it has been a pain to start. I will be deafantly looking at the fuel pump now , (engine management light still on:confused: ) cheers mark.

:) Hi ming.
just to let you know that i recieved my freelander back from the garage a few days before chrimbo . And guess what the fault was , yes it was the fuel pump in the fuel tank. anyway touch wood, she seems to be running fine now. But now have a new problem, my wife has just hit a barbed wire fence:eek: in the snow and has caused about 500 pounds worth of sratches. :( So back to the garage again.

so thanks again for the advice
cheers markone.;)

gutted for ya mate but how on earth did she hit anything?, I went out in my freelander when we had the smallest of snow flurries... nearly an inch deep for a whole hour!!!! then it rained ....however .. I could hardly shift the thing of its course the damned traction control and abs kept cuttin in spoiling all my fun:mad:

hi all, mine now looks like its got war wounds, but still is lovely and dirty. the wife has promised to give it a wash and polish. (do you think, she is trying to make up for something). Still is was very icying that thursday night and i am glad that we were not in the wifes car , because the road was like a sheet of ice. i dread to think what would of happened to us.

enjoy getting dirty

Bought my td4 new, and at 5000 miles the pump in the tank gave up... recently as my freelander hit 70k it was becoming hard to start.... engine management light and driving very slugish.... pump gave up again. ive put 2 pumps in mine, and i expect it to give up again before i sell:(

Try not to drive your car until the tank is empty, fill it up when still 1/4 in the tank.

Try telling the wife that, if im driving she's never goes below 1/4, but the wife would drive it till it runs out
