Hello, I'm new on here but have always loved landys, I have my heart set on a 1998 defender but know nothing about what to look for when buying, can anyone advise me please )

:welcome2: to the mad house:D:D

Have a search of the site and a good read, it will take you a while:rolleyes::rolleyes:, then when you have a better idea of exactly what you want (Why 1998 specifically:confused:), or have you already seen the one you want:confused:, and what to look for, you'll probably have a list of far more specific questions:eek::eek:, have a quick search for any recent answers to them, and by all means ask the natives, they are a friendly bunch really:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

first decide your budget.

then decide which engine you need based on what you want the car to do and weather you are prepared to work on them yourself. 2.5n/a, 2.5 turbo, 200tdi, 300tdi, TD5, puma engine or a V8(if youve deep enough pockets)

then decide if you want a truck cab, hard top 90, 110 depending on its use.

98 will be the first year of td5 fitted to the defender

then decide on colour

then after all that go and look at the rust bucket which is nothing like anything you've decided on, ****ing oil on a local dealer forecourt, fall in love with it pay over the odds and spend ten years making it the car you realised as soon as you got home that it was nothing like, but you actually wanted. good luck.
