Hi, everyone, my name is Rafael, I am in Cabo San Lucas. I have a 2010 Defender 110 that was rolled. Right Hand Drive model, Aussie origin. I bought it from a tow yard. Seems the accident happened about 3 yrs ago. I initially saw it 2+ yrs ago but didn't realize it was a Def...then I saw it again and I looked at it for a friend. He wasn't interested because he's in U.S.A and can't own it, as I'm sure that most members know. Long story short, I bought it. The Defender is virtually useless here because of customs regulations. Decided that starting a thread in the Australian Land Rover Owners Website and other forums in hopes of getting some info and hopefully some insight into where to get keys (if possible) made, wiring diagram, how to circumvent the FOB key issue, etc. I'd like to keep the whole thing but body isn't salvageable, and if it was I still can't import. Keeping engine, transmission and maybe t-case and axles if it is possible. I'm swapping drivetrain into CJ-7 Jeep that is imported that I have owned for 18 years. We are stretching the frame for 4 doors to get 110' WB. I was told that I can reflash the computer to circumvent the TCU and get a new ignition. Is this possible or should I order a new key, if that is possible?? I have posted in the defender source website but haven't had any pointers there. I think part of the problem is that they can't own a 2010 there in the U.S.. Since I bought it almost sight unseen, I am dealing with the inherent issues. I have a good fabricator-mechanics shop that is able to do the swap but I am doing my own homework.

Here's my issues:

I would love to keep the original frame and drivetrain but cost of fixing it is cost prohibitive for me. I may be able to keep axles (not sure until it goes to the shop) but not sure yet. Hopefully, time permitting and $$$$$ I am extending my CJ7 frame to turn it into 4 door and 110' WB.

1. No remote, no key.... There's vendors in UK... is this the only way? Post deposit for programmer, pay for FOB key? Logistically for me this is a nightmare... Do you guys think I can get the FOB key sent without going into the poorhouse? Is it possible with the VIN and frame number? Cant find the infamous port that the websites talk about for programming the new key or does this NOT apply to my 2010 model?? Does anybody know anything about a company called MAZTEC or something similar that can work on the ECU for this vehicle?

2. Copper thieves were hungry and cut the wires coming out of the computer that’s mounted behind motor on firewall. Seems the other ends are there. My mechanics are pretty savvy and can look up the wiring diagram to either join or get a new wiring loom but any info is welcome. I had a user in aulro website send me the wiring diagram for the 2.2 (in Italian) but is it the same diagram for my 2.4??
3 Can a FORD transit van ECU work on mine with the key??
4. I am trying to keep the dash if it fits….I live in a HOT area in the summer and the A/C would be great, and original gauges would be a plus. Are the RH drives adaptable to LH drives or am I gonna have to get rid of the dash altogether?

I hope I can get steered in the right direction, I started in N. America @ the Defender source website in USA, went to aulro in Australia because of the vehicle origin now I am knocking on the UK door, which is where I should have started, I think. LOL Thanks everyone, C U in Baja!!
