I'm getting nearer to buying a Freelander commercial.
Hopefully I will have it the end of January at the latest

What are the areas I should look at when buying?
I know about checking the VCU but what other typical weak points should I look out for?

Thanx:)

Assuming you mean that you know about the VCU and the importance of tyre sizes front compared to rear.

So here's some important things to start with - I'm sure some other folks will add more.

Check that everything electrical actually works.

If it's diesel, take out the dipstick slowly with the engine idling - there should be no release of pressure noises or oil coming up the tube.

Look for signs of water in the tool-locker in the rear compartment.

Thanks guys :)

I know about how to check the VCU and i've read i the link Duncp73 put up that newer tyres with deeper tread should go on the rear axle but I get the impression this is not what you mean

Thanks guys :)

It was just to emphasise the whole tyre thing - especially that the tyres are all the same brand and type - not just the same side-wall numbers - as different types even from the same manufacturer can be different from the nominal dimensions.

Happy hunting.

Don't fancy getting stuck in the mud on my permission

Would you believe it?
I went on van Trader to get an idea what i can get for my money and checked out some insurance while i was there

The Freelancer commercial is actually £1 cheaper to insure than a Renault Kangoo Sl17DCI 70 van:eek:

How the hell do they work that out
