Think actual figures still aren't known either and definitely nor are those deaths in work camps etc ..

The AK74 is a much better rifle, less component wear because of the smaller round but still versatile and solid.

Yup - history is full of misconceptions and war generally just serves to confuse / mask the truth so that it gets lost.
Ask 100 people what was the world's worst shipping disaster / loss of life - and 99 will tell you RMS Titanic - not true! The worst was 6 times worse.

There are two 76mm's on the stern but the emphasis for this ship was ICBM's, dozens and dozens of them to launch a saturated missile attack. Still the largest non carrier warship ever built
.The Soviets always favoured Rockets over aircraft at sea.

It's easy to overlook the small armament due to her sheer size, but the ASW, ECW and AA teeth of this class were potent in it's day. The yanks would have had a real tough time bringing her down, not like the Bismark - this has all radar guided multi target seeking gatlings and a beehive of SA missiles. You wouldn't want to have gone anywhere near it
. She was designed to be able to launch and withstand a saturation attack and I think it would have done a good job of that in action.Those Gatlings could also bring down Exocets of the day too. Nasty.

?Yeh I guess it is hehe. Well I'm biased I've always loved cold war designs so building models as a kid I actually paid attention in school lol. Never learned to hate it. Incidentally I've always thought that building models is a great way to teach history, makes a connection that a book might not make IMHO

Actually I say A-10, no idea when this boat was in service!
It was around a bit before but all the way through the A-10's life but I don't think they would have sent an A-10 up against warships. The US Army would have been too busy melting T-72's in germany with them
. More likely it would have gone up against F-14's and such armed with Harpoon and Exocet. But she would have been in a flotilla that would have included ASW and AA specialist warships to bolster her own defences. Not uncrackable, but one tough walnut!Iowa class is a WW2 relic, useful as power projection but dubious use in action against Soviets
