Hi Guys,

After much cleaning and polishing the only thing that lets my Disco down is the naff faded chrome inserts in the bump strips. My question is are there any holes in the doors to secure them or are they just glued on. So can the bump strips be removed with a hairdryer etc...

Thanks in advance

Tony

Have you thought about painting the inserts?

Removing all the strips would be a pig of a job, and if you managed to remove them without any paint damage it may still show due to many years of the rest of the paint fading.

I did but I am also considering trying to pry out the inserts as they look glued in.....

Reason I asked if they had holes is because I saw Jabbae46's and it looked like it has holes for the bump strips..

Oh well, mine are held on by glue anyway...
Might be worth taking a door card off to see what's going on with the door skin before you decide anything, as you'll know where you stand then. :)

my mate has a green discovery and his inserts were naff, so he covered them with green electrical tape about 2 yrs ago, but get a good quality make or it wont stick to well, his looks good even today.

i took the silver crap out and cleaned up the black bump strips with a bit of white spirit... looks better in my opinion if the silver strips are nakered and dull/peeling like mine were
