Not long had this Series 3. 1983 County, 2.25 diesel.
Was running when I got it, though it through out lots of white smoke.

Put some new injectors in-still smoky. Must be the timing then.....

When I checked the Injector pump, the 3 securing nuts were all loose. Tightened them up...still smoky.

Loosened pump securing nuts, removed injector pipes, 2mm adjustment at a time..still smoky.

Off comes the injector pump, flywheel set to 13 degrees as per manual turn page..."using tool 605863...." that's the gauge to set the timing up proper....don't have one!

So just put it all back together as it was.
Start her up, still smoky of course.

Several months later.....(been v busy) try to start her..nowt.
New battery on....lots of effort, won't start.
More diesel in....won't start.
Bleed system from screws on Injector pump-airless stream of fuel.
Bleed at injector pipes...nothing!!!
Eh?
Right, the injector pumps coming off again..wonder if the fuel cut out thingyme whatsit is buggered...

Last time I looked this bit was attached to the timing gears....i think I've broke it!

I'd like to think that because the Injector pump was loose when I got the vehicle, this has caused a weak spot and it would have broken anyway!! (Yeah right!)
What kind of task have i got ahead of me, and where do I get the parts?
Cheers in advance.

Aha, looking in the daylight I see the drive gear is a separate part (duh!).
Removed other broken end and now left with this:

how typical is that.
just chucked old 2 1/4 lump out and will have had one of them.
will have a search when i go back to workshop an see if i have another kicking about

when workin. this un had bin sat at the bottom of me old folks garden 10 years after i drowned it. found another and used that, before moving to the 19j. (2.5td)
was just one of them things i couldnt chuck out so moved it to the workshop. 10 years again, lack of room forced a desicion.......

Sorted! John Craddock came to the rescue! There is no part number, it's just a part that comes with the injector pump. Top tip-don't break it in the first place!
£16 incl postage, I've been a lucky boy! Thank you Penny from John Craddock!!
