Hi all,

I am "imagining" another issue that the local grease monkeys can't find a fault for.

The brake on the freebie (2001 td4) are not as good as they should be. Its had the front pads changed and new fluid, but the garage only blees the front. They couldn't undo the bleed nipples on the rear (or could not be bothered)

the brake work, I just have to push harder to stop. Would this be a vacuum pump / mastercylinder issue?

Thanks

Dave

P.s. Why does the prefix box have "Freelander 1" as an option. As far as I know landrover never made a Freelander 1, and only Freelander and Freelander 2 models exists.

vacuum pump can be an issue but check for any leaking vac hoses first.

symptoms for a failing vac pump...... usually the first brake application is better than subsequent applications as the pump can't keep up, particularly at low engine revs.

Over the last couple of days, i have noticed that the first application on the brakes seems not to do anything, after that they are not as good as they should be but do work.

Hope that bit of info helps.

that doesn't fit the symptoms for a failing vac pump.

Did you have new pads only or discs as well? if there is a lot of wear on the discs that could possibly be the fault..... Providing bleeding was successful.

Easier to know them as Freelander 1 and Freelaner 2.

Thanks for the help guys, will get the discs checked out, the garage guys said that only the pad need replacing as they were getting low.

I think that changing the rear cylinders and bleeding the whole system properly will have to be the next step.
