I can hear the brake pump running quite often on my 2002 p38 is it possible my accumulator won't hold the charge and needs replacing?

How often does it run?? As in after how many applications of the brake pedal?? Or does it run after X amount of time without even pressing the pedal??

i can hear it after every couple of applicationsof the brake for a couple of seconds

If the pump runs after every 2nd brake press then I would say replace the accumulator, I had this and replacing the accumulator made a difference, the pump now only runs every 8-9, maybe a few more, presses.
