brake Pipes/hoses mod

After damaging a front brake flexi hose again on Sunday at a play day, and chatting to a mate (dangerous I know lol) he mentioned an idea he'd seen of re-routing the front brake lines

So after having a look about the workshop to see what i had kicking about I came up with this




I decided to run the pipes on the outside as it "should" be easier to spot any damage if and when it happens







the white cable clips are a temporary fix till the p clips turn up but it only going to have cost me £30 quid so can't be bad I need to make up some brackets to hold the rear flex but thats easy enough!

I'd be moving the chassis side of the rear flexi closer to the arm.
I've mostly seen them run down the panhard rod, figured you would have more protection there from the steering guard.

Yeah thats the bit where I need to make up some brackets to hold it in place this is just a trial fit!

I'd move the chassis run to on top of the chassis where there's less chance of a wheel on full lock ripping it off, I'd also not bother going round the outside of the turret, keep the runs as short as possible.

Nice idea! Was it any more difficult to bleed with having the longer length of pipe at different angles?

I decided to make mine 1 flexi from inner wing to caliper via the the normal king pin collar/bracket:

That was post axle rebuild but pre Morocco trip.
It doesn't look like that now.

Yep sound like a good idea to me . If that axle is any thing to go by the rest should be great.

indeed it is he has a very fine disco a had the pleasure of seeing it and must say it put mine to shame so i had no choice but to start on mine

Mark L you was right on the auto part i have finally got mine moted and took it to tick hill PnP site. she did me proud and can't wait to go playin again
