been trying to sort out brake lights today .no joy joined up the wires of the switch nothing put a live into it nothing . jamed peddle to floor ignition on . side light work and indicators as well .had light out and only 2 wires which one would br the brake light so i can put a live to it .cheers

did side light come on with brake peddal if so poor earths on brake lights ,buy a cheap test light ,test current to switch ,from switch ,to light holder etc

hi the side lights work ok dont think its a bad earth they switch on as do indicators just dont think any power is going to brakelights just wonder if there is another switch under the peddle but its non servo so i can only see the switch in the fluid line will have another go at it later cheers

green brown stripe feed to brake light switch green purple stripe from switch to lights several connections on it's route behind bulkhead to main loom down chassis to rear fed from second fuse which feed hazard warning switch must be ok as you say your indicators are working not allowing for and bodges would check bullet connections for corrosion

What vehicle? The non servo S3 has a brake light switch on the top of the pedal assembly inside the vehicle, Green wire is a FUSED feed, green and purple wire goes to brake lights. If the fuse has gone your gauges won't work.

so far
brake peddle jam down with wood
live wire direct from battery to brake light they work
i think it must be the switch in the fluid line but i cant quite see how it works as there are only 2 wires on the switch .one to earth the other into the loom but no live feed to the switch. not given up yet .just fed up so washed it gave roof a good scrub and painted the wheels before rain stopped play .have got 2 days off work now so a bit more fiddling to be done . cheers

hi the truck is a sereis 2a ex army so i was told.
electrics arnt my stong point dont know what is really.
i have looked all around the brake peddle in the cab and can find no switch. the only switch seems to be in the brake fluid line on top of the chassi drivers side.it has 2 terminals on it one goes to earth. the other into the loom.so if the switch works on pressure where is the live feed to this switch or is the wire that goes into the loom a live feed and dose it go from switch to brake light or somwhere else on route .i would like to exhuast all possable avenues befor replacing the switch as i think that i would have to bleed the brakes .and who knows what problems that might cause .cheers for the replys i keep trying everything .have got 2 days off work so lots of fiddling to be done .keep me busy any way.

could it be as simple as either blown bulbs or ive had the problem where the solder on the back of the bulb just wearing away take out the bulbs and have a look, its deffo a cheap check

hi bulbs ok they work with wire from the battery but not from the foot peddel side lights and indicators all work as normal . so its from the switch back . cheers

A switch in the brake line with a connection to earth? - is this a dual circuit system with a brake pressure differential warning switch?

hi oxides you have lost me completly now .its set up as i decsibed it one wire bolted to floor pan one wire going into the loom .think i have got the right switch just sat on top of chassi drivers side dosent look like it has been messed with so not new been there a long time by the looks of it.cheers

does it still have 6-way lighting switch and the aux relay, as this switches the feed to the brake light supply fuse a Brown/yellow cable to the fuse .the switch with the black to earth and I assume a black/white cable is the brake failure warning switch

yes it still has the six way switch that you put the key into then turn anti clock to put lights on .so you think it could be something to do with that. i havent had that out yet looks like to many wires in there . so what you are saying is the brakelights are on that switch in the cab .will have a look later .as some one has said before could be to do with convoy driving a night sounds ok to me .

hi all been at it all day brake lights sorted £1.50 micro switch from scrapyard and a re wire . should of done that first save a lot of hassle . wipers on washers working .going to start useing it now .then just a few more bits to keep me busy like fuel gauge shows full all the time and door locks needs new barrels but thats for later cheers for all your help no dout ill need more
