Help ,the pleasures of owning a land rover,i dont learn and im now on number 35 .
Just wrestled with clutch replacement ,timing kit and complete service at the same time even managed to do this with a broken little finger and knuckle.
Everything put back together and running sweet, dropped the bonnet down for a test drive all went well but the battery due to lack of movement in the past three weeks has now died, went to open up bonnet to fit new battery and the b stard wont open.
Any ideas on how to open a 1995 disco tdi bonnet .
Have tried with help pushing on the bonnet whilst the release is pulled no movement, had a look in the dark with aid of a torch through the grille ,all i can see is the spring to the latch .Would like to try and open the bonnet with out distroying the grille.
Any ideas, i have had a search to no avail.

pop the headlight out on the nearside, you'll see the release cable at the top of it's socket, attack from there. headlights should just pop out of their little eyeball clamps.

mine usually sticks due to mud

quick test is to lift the bonnet hard on the far drivers side only (lifting the corner to twist the bonnet basically) whilst getting someone to fully pull the handle. this moves the locking pin to the right slightly, often enough to sneak it past the latch.

if that workjs, adjust cable up. if not, proceed as above. if you have to destroy the grill, they are really cheap on ebay :)

BIG THANKS Mr Noisy,

popped up no problems.

Latch and cable all grease up, all due to the normal damp Brittany climate.
New battery installed and treated the key fobs to new cells.
Hopefully i can get the last few jobs completed before the snow thats forecast.
Then fun fun fun.
