Just had a gasket blown on my 4.6, it turns out after a lot of investigation that the 4.6 is prone to an airlock on the cooling system, just posting this as advise for any other 4.6 range rover owners who may have engine temp issues

ah come on he was only being nice.

i suggest head to RPI or the like and get a dirty great 5.1 fitted instead of repairing....
 
I think you will find it will properly be a pours block too!
Air locking on a engine that is otherwise not overheating or using water is a sure sign of pours block done too many now to not see the warning signs
