Bloody useful tailgate fix

When mine went it was only the tip of the springs that had snapped, I just bent the last coil of the spring out to form a new hook. Been working fine since.

Will,

Sounds like a good idea, let us know how it goes please.

David,

Is it difficult to access the springs?

Ta, Andy

I have absolutely no idea but it can't be much harder than doing the head gasket so I'm pretty confident :D.

They not told you that the doors fall off:) apparently! Or is that just in water? Mine haven't yet
Thought your head gasket would be keeping you busy;)

I wrote a very, very long and expensive of things to fix. Then an equally long list of things to pimp. The head hasket is just the start :D.

Nice one David that's shed some light on the unknown :). I found some good pics:

What you been doing all day? You fixed it yet? Can I come round and lend you some tools again:) door trims a doddle to get off:D done mine a few times

If you want to come round and lend me tools you're more than welcome hehe :). I've decided to go whole hog and replace the coolant rail and both heater matrix hoses - which when we fit the EWP will constitute a whole new plumbing system!! No leaks ahoy! The only unknown at this point is the water pump blanking plate. which perhaps we could look into when the HG is all done and dusted.

Give me your old pump and I'll take it to my special friend to see if we can make a blank/idler

Will do I'll take it out when I fit the new rail and you can hand it over to your tame genius. If this works, I have the feeling that this beasty will become the car it was always meant to be.

Your posts would definitely suggest that, but then yours has a good owner ;). Mine is a bit of a rescue dog with the emphasis on "dog." Not as bad as it could be but it's thrown pretty much every gremlin in the book my way. Great to look at but badly abused under the bonnet :(. But I'm seeing to all that now.
