That's them!

yeah as i said when we first had snow last week i still had the tyres pumped up the normal pressure and the car was all over the place so droped the pressure to 25 psi all round and it did make a small differance but didn't have much chance to try them as the rain we had the other day washed the snow away but there is snow forcast so they say so hopefully when it comes i can try them then make a dissision.

bizarre I've had at's for the past 4 years ( same set, 30k still good Yeh) and no trouble getting anywhere, be it snow ( last winters 6inches at speed bashing through snow drifts), mud, ice, not tried much on sand though, daft question ( and 1 I think has been touched on) but is everything else ok on your disco?

Hi trax99

yes everything is working ok but as i have said we had very little snow here in south manchester and as work is in walking distance i didn't need to use the car then by the time my days off arrived most of the snow had gone but what little snow was still left one the road the car struggled, in the snow earlier this year i still had my s11a swb fitted with off road tyres and a 200tdi and the car was great in the snow and that was a lot thicker than we have just had, it would be nice to here from owners who use there discos off road and to know what there off road tyres are like in snow.

ive been using stock tyres on my 1999 td5, no problems at all yet and ive been up some pretty steep inclines covered in snow and ice, also been down some, better witghout hdc in snow and ice imo...

Been through shortish snow drifts on the mountain road out back almost bonnet depth and it just plowed through them.. Obviously if i had driven like a w*nker i would have been stuck.. but tbh all i heard was traction control on the way up the slopes and nothing thru the drifts.. just kept a constant stead speed with accelration uphill but not so much that it starts the wheels to spin.. i think the stock tyres arer really great on snow and not so great on ice..

iv had BFG AT on for years wouldn't have anything else bar GG AT2's bit better grip very slight on tar but don't last as long.

Im running at 28psi rear 30 on front great in snow but wouldn't get up my 1.3+ drive covered in snow over ice LOL it did with the winch tho :)

Have you tried using yr Diff Lock :D :D :D

I don't know what the matter is with you lot? A Land Rover even with the worst tyres, providing that are legal, will have some tread. Yes progress over ice will be a challenge(not a problem), but driving on or through snow will just be fun, fun and more fun!

Improve your technique - good tyres can only help:)

Spot on that man!!

A standard Defender with the right driver is a very very capable machine. And no I cant drive for ****.:D

I have general grabber at2's and have had no problems real on snow/ice/slush, been quite deep snow and then frozen solid here for near enough two weeks. But I have altered my driving style slightly to adapt to the conditions and it's my first experience of snow. I've slid a couple of times once on an ice roundabout and another on ice with a few inches of fresh wet snow on it and still falling but I think I would have slipped a bit no matter what tyres I had on unless they were studded/ had chains, no drama though just keep the head.

I went out tonight in 6" of snow in the 1990 200TDi with almost new BF Goodrich tyres on, and it was all over the joint! My '94 Peugeot 405 1.9TD FWD would have made it better with almost bald budget tyres!

First thing tomorrow I'll be swapping the wheels over from the '93 200TDi which is running on Michelin off road tyres that are superb on snow. Luckily, both Disco's have the same alloys so I can do a straight swap over and it won't look any different, but will handle much better on snow!

bad workman blames his tools
have had bfg mt's on 3 differant fenders and would pit them against any tyre on the market
