My Rangie needs a blend motor replacement - there's a guy on ebay who advertises replacement for £340 and will do it at your home or workplace in 4 hours - anyone tried his services yet? I'm tempted as the stealers ridiculous proce is just not an option and there is no independent near me I can trust.....

A bit steep. My local landy bloke said it would only be £170, but said just to leave it alone, as all the fans go into one, so the air con still works, just one of the motors that moves the fans is duff.

?? £170 - not sure how anyone could do that when the price for the parts alone is around £225 from a stealer for the set of three and it makes sense to do all three motors due to the difficult access. Aircon doesn't function properly without them, and the dreaded open book symbol stays there....

Stealer charges around £900 for the repair, which according to them entails removing the entire dash but workarounds have been devised like those on Rangrovers.net.

If the bloke still wants to do the repair including the spares for £170 let me know asap so I can book the rangie in :)

There is confusion here, one side is talking about the normal 3 blend motors that fail, the other side is on about the recirculation blend motors on the blower fans themselves - which rarely fail.
When I do blend motors I only replace what has failed as it keeps the cost down for the owner and avoids unecessary dismantling. For intstance if its just a LH motor I'd happily do it for £170 + VAT. RH and distribution ones a bit more esp if the dist flap is sticking.

How would I be able to work out which motor has gone - LH, distrib or RH? Mind you, I guess a trip to Bath and back, apart from taking several hours of travel there and back,
would quickly mount up to the extra £170 I would save...... :(

Thats the trouble, till you hook it up to Testbook you cant tell what is wrong - plus I'm booked solid for a couple of weeks anyway......
